Our Ventriloquist Act brings a character the children will swear is alive. The performer works with a cheeky talking sidekick — a puppet with a mind of its own that bickers, cracks jokes, mishears on purpose and turns to the audience for back-up. The act weaves in the birthday child and a few brave volunteers, with the puppet 'knowing' names and party details for that gasp of delight, and the gentle comedy of two characters winding each other up keeps the whole room leaning in. It sits somewhere between a puppet show and a comedy turn: more conversational and character-driven than a magic set, and a wonderful change of pace that works seated indoors or out. Warm, quick-witted and a little bit mischievous, it is the act that has kids whispering 'how does it talk?' long after the candles are out.
